the visit of the olympic torch...

Last Tuesday the Olympic torch floated into Bristol's harbour side on it's tour around the country to mark the start of the Olympic games this summer.
I wasn't expecting to see so many people or the show that was laid on.
I honestly thought we would be one of about 100 people... oh how wrong was I?
Thousands upon thousands of people lined the harbour side waiting for the flame to come under the bridge.
It was a gloriously sunny evening, and a real festival atmosphere.
The torch came through the water with a flotilla of yachts and rowing boats. Once it reached the harbour wall, the torch was passed on and it was then carried on to the stage where it ignited the cauldron.
Music played and the old fire brigade boat showed off by squirting it's hoses to mark the occasion.
Acrobats and street performers then took over to the sounds of proper Bristol music, Roni Size and Massive Attack.
I love Bristol... we have some style.
